🔒 Privacy

Your data stays on your device. That's the whole policy, in one sentence.

Everything below explains exactly what that means in practice, including the small number of places where general, non-personal information is collected.

Last updated: June 2026

1. How our tools store your information

Tools on this site that track personal entries, sobriety dates, mood logs, journal entries, screener answers, symptom diaries, and similar, store that information using your browser's local storage. This means the data is saved directly on your own device, inside your browser, and is never transmitted to RehabNest's servers or any third party. We have no way to see, access, or recover the personal entries you make in these tools, because they never leave your device in the first place.

2. The optional "Talk to Someone" contact form

You may notice a "Talk to Someone" button on tool pages, and occasionally a banner offering to connect you with support after using certain tools. This is the one part of RehabNest that is not local-only, and it is entirely optional. It never blocks access to any tool, screener result, or resource on this site.

If you choose to fill out and submit that form, the information you provide (your name, email, and anything else you enter) is sent by email to our team so someone can follow up with you. It is not stored in a database, not sold, and not shared with advertisers. If you don't use this form, nothing changes about how the rest of the site works: every tool remains fully private and local to your browser as described above.

3. What we don't collect

We do not require an account, a login, or an email address to use any tool on this site. We do not collect names, dates of birth, health records, or any personally identifying information through our tools. Screener results, journal entries, tracker data, and similar tool content are not sent to us in any form.

4. General site analytics

Like most websites, we use basic, aggregated analytics (such as Google Analytics) to understand general traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit the site. This data is anonymised and aggregated where possible, and is not connected to anything you enter into any individual tool. It helps us understand which resources are most useful so we can maintain and improve the site.

5. Cookies and advertising

We use functional cookies or browser storage, primarily to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode) between visits.

RehabNest also displays advertisements served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising partners. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. Advertising cookies are separate from, and never connected to, the local, in-browser tool data described in Section 1 above — your tracker entries, journal content, and screener answers are never shared with advertisers under any circumstances, because they never leave your device.

6. Third-party links and resources

Many tools link out to external organisations, including SAMHSA, crisis hotlines, treatment locators, and professional directories. Once you leave our site through one of these links, that organisation's own privacy policy applies, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external resource you visit.

7. Children's privacy

RehabNest is designed for general audiences seeking addiction recovery information, including some resources specifically written for teens and families of teens. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including minors, since our tools are built not to collect personal information from any user in the first place.

8. Your control over your data

Because tool data lives in your browser's local storage, you are always in full control of it. Clearing your browser's site data, using private or incognito browsing, or simply using a different device or browser will remove any previously saved entries. If you want to preserve specific entries long-term, consider exporting or copying that information elsewhere, since we have no backend copy to restore from if local data is cleared.

A practical note: Because nothing is backed up on our end, we cannot recover lost tracker history, journal entries, or screener results if your browser data is cleared. This is the direct tradeoff of a fully private, local-only design.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in how the site operates. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
